Jovette's Spaghetti and Meatballs

(from grand-maman TĂŞtu)


Meatball Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground pork
  • 1 cup bread crumbs (I use fresh bread)
  • Âľ cup (180 g) grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 2 lightly beaten eggs
  • flour
  • ÂĽ cup (60 g) butter

Sauce Ingredients:

  • Âľ cup (180 g) chopped onions
  • ÂĽ cup (60 g) flour
  • 2 cans of 20 oz (565 g) tomatoes
  • 2 cans of 8 oz (227 g) tomato paste
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • â…› tsp thyme
  • ÂĽ tsp marjoram
  • 1 garlic clove
  • ½ cup (125 ml) chopped parsley
  • 1 tsp basil

Instructions:

Mix the ground meat, bread crumbs, cheese, salt, pepper, garlic salt, milk, and eggs together.

Shape the mixture into meatballs, roll them in flour, and grill them (I use a non-stick pan to prevent sticking).

Remove the meatballs. Add the onions to the pan and fry them gently.

Blend the tomatoes and add ÂĽ cup of flour to the mixture.
